A Brazilian Song – “Cajuína” – By Caetano Veloso

Sobre newtonlinchen

I'm a trader, 35 years old, and I've been changing approach to the markets, from a mostly qualitative approach to a quantitative way of thinking. For inspiration and guidance, I rely on the work of Victor Niederhoffer and other market veterans such as Larry Williams. I'm very grateful for their generosity of sharing their work and their time with me. I have a beloved wife and a wonderful boy. Could spend (and I freqüently do) hours and hours studying the markets or playing chess with friends. What else? Keep coming visit me and I believe you'll find out. Regards, Newton Paulo Linchen.

    LD,

This music has a story… Caetano Veloso is a famous brazilian singer, and he had in the 60′s a partner called Torquato Neto, who killed himself by 1972. They were dear friends. Years later, Caetano came to Teresina (Torquato’s home town) and met Torquato’s father, at his house.

Caetano was crying. The father left him in the hall, with a glass of cajuína (a soda made from Caju, a brazilian northwestern fruit), and went to the garden. He came back with a little rose to Caetano.

Therefore, the lyrics goes along this lines.

The translation in the video is very bad.

    A better translation would be:

“What is the purpose of our existence?
Because, when you gave the little rose
I realized you’re a beautiful* man (* in the sense of inner beauty)
And, had the fate of the unhappy boy does not illuminate us,
Neither would be troubled the northwestern tear
Only the matter of life was so thin!
And we were gazing at each other,
    Intact retina
    Crystalline Cajuína in Teresina.
